Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO)

Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) provides the industry with a professional designation focused on construction, with a depth of understanding in occupational health and safety.

The requirements for the CHSO designation include the following:

Practical Loss Control Leadership 
A nationally recognized home study program from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) is the foundation for the CHSO, providing a broad understanding of loss causation.  This course is also offered as a five-day learning experience through DNV, which is an acceptable equivalent to the home study program.

Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
or the Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) designation.

NSCSA COR program
Provides an understanding of the loss control management system used by the province's construction industry.

NSCSA Construction Safety Supervisor (CSS)
This training will deal with a broad range of compliance issues.

OH&S Train the Trainer
Helping OH&S professionals gain the tools necessary for the delivery of health and safety training.

Advanced Audit Workshop
Participants will take part in a one-week program and team audit with an experienced NSCSA OH&S professional. The audit program is an essential part of Nova Scotia Environment and Labour's recognition of the NSCSA Certificate of Recognition.
