About the NSCSA

Our Mission

We commit to achieve a positive occupational health and safety culture within the Nova Scotia construction industry through the provision of quality, accessible and affordable services.

Our Vision

The Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association will be successful when the Nova Scotia construction industry is the occupational health and safety benchmark for all industry in Atlantic Canada.

Our Successes:

A 75 per cent decrease in the number of construction accidents per $1 million of assessable payroll.

Over 225,000 participants in NSCSA safety and COR training programs since 1994.

More than 2,600 Nova Scotia firms have earned the NSCSA Certificate of Recognition, which purchasers of construction services increasingly demand.

Lost time accidents have decreased from 1,224 in 1993 (the year before the NSCSA began operating) to 671 in 2010, despite an increase in assessable payroll from $439 to $886 million.

Ongoing partnerships with government and industry representatives which improve safety awareness and performance in the construction industry.
